28 Apr 2010

Aiight, haven't posted anything in a week because really not much has been going on. On Monday we finally got the Internet back up, So we cleaned up all the wiring in hallway, because there were wires going everywhere.. Since then, I just been hanging out...

Since I have a little time on my hands, I decided to enroll in American Military University and get my Associates while I am here, I am just 5 classes away. So yesterday I enrolled in the university as a undergrad/ no degree towards my CCAF... I requested transcripts from Delaware Technical & Community College and waiting on the processing to be finalized so I can sign up for classes. The classes at AMU are 8 weeks long and no books required, because they are all PDF files online.... Stacie is also enrolled and taking 4-5 classes, how she is doing it, I don't know. She is going to Louisiana in a couple weeks for the summer. So I can't apply online for the tuition assistance for some reason, so when I get my classes, Stacie has to go up there and sign the paperwork with the POA I gave her....

Well I put off the P90X for a couple weeks, until I get my weights I ordered in from Amazon. The gym here has only 30lb weights and up in the dumbbells, so I ordered the adjustable weights and a pull up bar, so I have everything I need. I am still running daily 3 miles and down to 178 from 209... I feel pretty good, just can't wait to get going on the P90 and build a little muscle...
Well today I woke up about 830 and headed over to breakfast, after that I chilled in the room and talked to Stacie on Skype... After that I went a changed out a door handle and kind of assessed what I need to do around the camp ie: cleaning up, stuff to fix, etc... Went to lunch about 1130 had some hot wings and then went back to the room for a nap..... About 4:00PM I headed over to see Mike cooking up some T-Bones for dinner, so I chilled with him a little and helped out where I could.. Went to Dinner around 5:00, had T-Bone right off the grill, Lobster Tail and some huge Crab Legs.... Didn't want to eat too much, because I didn't want to feel like crap and not run... After that I headed back to the room and chatted with a couple folks and headed to the gym around 7:00PM for a 3 mile run... Headed back to the room, took a shower and talked to Stacie and the girls... Well I have to get to bed a little early tonight I have to TOC watch from 0300-0800.... Sorry so vague, but I am a little tired and aggravated... More to come..

22 April 2010

Well like every morning, I opened my eyes, hit the head and got undressed and stood on the scale..... Well I am down 26lbs to 183 in 1 month and 22 days, right on track... Gonna start the P90X real soon... Well after the scale I went to eat breakfast and then came back to the room and chatted with Stacie for a little bit... About 0900, I headed over to my additional duty position, camp maintenance, I have a huge pile of keys and have absolutely no idea where they go.. So, the keys that have been identified and marked, I double checked them all morning until about lunchtime..

Headed over to Logman for lunch then to the Afghan bizarre, the bizarre is just a bunch of locals selling all kinds of stuff from trinkets, electronics, movies, phones, clothes, etc... They come through here every Thursday.. So I broke down and bought a phone and 2 Sim cards, the reason for 2 Sim cards is because the network here isn't real reliable and if one network is down then you can switch over to the other.... I bought 2000 units (prepaid cards from Roshan network) and 1000 units (prepaid cards from AWCC network). These should last me awhile, since I wont be calling to the states, because I use Sype all the time... After the bizarre me and Mike headed over to the Finance office and signed up for the Eagle Cash Card. That is were we can load money on a card directly from our bank account and use it as a Debit card or get cash directly off it at the finance cashier cage... While Mike was doing his card I got a haircut and checked out the masage prices and the hook up on the back cuts... After that headed to the room to play with my phone. It took me awhile to get my phone working, its a Nokia E71, flippin complicated, miss my Iphone... Well I fiddled with that for a couple hours in my room until close to dinner...

Well went to dinner about 5:00PM and then headed back to the room to look up some workout apparel... I checked out the Under Armor website and found a couple items on there... I wear a medium shirt and med or large shorts, that's if you want to get me anything hint hint (address is on a previous blog)... About a hour later I headed to the gym for a nice 3 mile run at the gym up on the hill.. After that basically came back to the room and messed around on the Internet and read.... If anything else interesting happens Ill edit this post and add it... other then that its about 730PM (7:00AM Eastern)...

21 Apr 2010

Well today started off like any other day, woke up and headed to breakfast about 0730.. After breakfast I headed back to the room and talked to Stacie and the girls, they were over at a friends hanging out.. Went to the shop around 0900 and pretty much hung out there for about a hour and then headed back to the room, were the carpenters were waiting on me to install my closet.. The built it a little big to fit into the open space in the wall, so they grabbed some chisels and hammers and went to town on the side of the concrete wall... After they got it all in my room was a huge mess with concrete dust all over the place.. I couldn't deal with it so I left for lunch..

I went to the Chow hall here on camp and didn't like anything, so I high tailed my butt over to Logman chow hall.. After lunch I went and BS'ed with some folks and the topic of my room came up. I said "the damn carpet that goes up on the walls is in the way and ugly... The camp main person who takes care of most stuff said "cut that shit!" That is exactly what I wanted to hear, so I grabbed some heavy duty upholstery scissors and went to town.. I bet that carpet was about $2000 carpet, you know how the carpets over here are so expensive, but cheaper then in the states... After one big blister later from cutting the carpet all the way around the room I cleaned everything and straightened up my room and unpacked the rest of my stuff.. I borrowed the vacuum from the civilian guys and promised to clean it afterwards, so I cleaned the crap out of it... I unlocked the shop and fixed the bag, it was the last one and had a hole in it.. After that I left the shop and took it back to the civilians.. about an hour later I noticed I was missing my keys to my room, shop, 2 other keys, and dog tags... I looked everywhere and asked everyone, and Yakut (local Mechanic) went and asked all the local nationals... I retraced my steps, either I left it in the lock at the shop or I left them in the bathroom, because I almost took a sink shower from cleaning that vacuum... I not blaming anyone but I suspect a local picked em up, but I hope I am wrong, because they will show up then... I have been pissed all afternoon, but what can I do... anywho...

Went to Dinner had Lobster, Crab and small piece of steak, then headed back to the room to look for a 42" LCD to order for my room here... I am pretty sure I will get my money back from this and still use it for the 6 months I am out here... If not I will ship it back home... Looking for a inexpensive one, I got some prices from a couple distributors that I use through Eksessiv Audio... I am going to use it more as a computer monitor and DVD player off the computer, my computer screen is kind of far from my bed, so I want to chill in bed and get on my wireless keyboard and mouse, LAZY HUH???.... About 1800 (6:00PM) I headed over to the gym for a nice 3 mile run.... After that I headed back to the room.....

Tuesday, 20 April 2010

Well Today was a real early day, I started it off by waking up at 0340 and headed over to the Ops Center to be trained on manning the phones and board... I worked in there until about 0800. After that I went and got something to eat, and then headed back to the room... I was gonna take a nap, but started to get on the Internet and called Katie and Chris to get a good idea on what to get for working out.. They have been doing this for years, so I trust their judgment.. I ordered some pre workout stuff, 3 different ones, and some protein whey... Gonna start bringing it... While I was on the puter, I got a knock at the door, it was the 2 hagi carpenters.. Cool they got my bed, computer desk, and a couple shelves all done and installed... Other then that had lunch and chilled the rest of the afternoon until we have a VIP coming into the camp at 1600 (4:00PM)...

Chilled at the chow hall until it was time to eat, Darn Mexican again... I stuffed myself full and I feel like crap.. So didn't see the 2 Star Gen that came on camp, he was in the TOC the whole time, so I just came back to the room... I got a Facebook from Corey Peebles wife saying that he is at the same place I am, so I hopped in a truck and cruised up the hill about 300 meters and parked. I asked around, but no one know of any Air Force there, except a this dude Marcus who I know from home, he's gonna help me track him down tomorrow... Other then that went back to the room and chilled the rest of the night....

Today is Monday, woke up from a yahoo IM.. Got up and went to breakfast then came back to my room and chilled for about 20 minutes online. I walked out my room about 30ft to my shop, waiting for Jason and the 2 locals to roll in... As soon as they got there we had to clean up the Class IX yard (vehicle parts) that took till about 1000, about an hour... After that we were chilin in out break area and all of a sudden the camp generator went on the fritz.. So we switched over to the back-up generator, this has happened a couple times, so we went to Dynacorp (generator contractors) and complained this has happened multiple times as they said it was fixed... They said they would get right on it... After that went to my room and chilled until lunch.. Went to lunch about 1130, ate with one of our interpreters, Abdul he 's real cool, the guy looks like Mighty Mouse short and built like a rock... I talked to him to get the carpenters to build me some furniture in my room to make it a little more like home.. I am going to get a closet built into a space were it looks like a chimney used to be, a corner desk and new bed.. The bed I have is a bunk, I'm going to take all that out and just build a simple bed that doesn't take up much room... Last but not least have them design a pull up bar somewheres, I am gonna whip myself back into shape, gonna design my room so I can start P90X, Gonna Bring it!!! So after lunch me and Abdul went to my room so I can explain exactly what I want.. A little later the carpenters came by and took some measurements, so now I have to wait a couple more days before they can get to it, prior projects. Pretty much the rest of the afternoon I chilled in my room and surfed the Internet and talked to my nephew Joey..

About 4:00 I headed over to the gym, I got to the keys to this Toyota P/U that is a right hand drive and a stick shift... As soon as I got in I went to reach over my left shoulder for the seat belt and it is on the right, this truck felt real weird to drive, but I will get used to it... Abdul gave me this pre workout stuff called Anabolic 6, so I took some before my run... I got to the gym got on the treadmill, went to turn on my Ipod, and the stupid thing isn't working... Great, I can't run with out music, believe me I always stop 1/2 way through my workout, whatever... So I started and, Holy shirts and pants, I ran a 5K (3 mile) and I could have ran 6 miles easily... I'm suspecting it is that stuff that I got from Abdul , that stuff made me feel great... While I was at the gym I met up with this guy that is stationed at Ft Wainwirght, AK.. He has gotten some stuff from Eksessiv Audio... We talked a bit and then I headed back to my room.. as soon as I got back I headed over to chow hall for dinner, Mmmm baked chicken... They had Afghani night, which everyone loves and it looked real good, but I am sticking to my diet, I have 6 months for that.. After dinner I just picked up my laundry from were haji did it and then came back the room... Pretty much gonna chill here, have to be in the control center for some training at 0400 for a couple hours.. I have to learn to monitor the phones and board starting Friday 5 hours a night... Its just once a week... Other then that. gonna take a shower call Stacie and watch a movie.....

FOB Mogensen

This morning left Kandehar on a Blackhawk and took a 1/2 hour chopper ride to FOB Logmam... Within FOb Logman is Camp Mogensen is were I am going to lay my head for the next 5 1/2 months.... Me and Mike French (other AF guy that came with me, cook) were greeted by a guy that showed us 4 rooms to pick from. The room I picked is alright, but needs some major remodeling. I dropped off my stuff and went by the maintenance shop and met the 2 local nationals.. They are pretty cool, just gonna take getting used to talking to them, barely understand them.... One of the locals took me to meet the civilian in charge of the shop... Jason, pretty cool counrty boy from CLarksville TN... He seems to have this place on lockdown, but he leaves in 59 days...

There are six rooms in this little section that I'm staying in and there are 4 rooms being occupied including me and Mike... The other 2 guys are real cool and have a real good mind set, they built this awesome deck out back of our rooms with a burn pit, projector screen, that they play Wii, and watch movies like a drive in.... I think Im gonna like it here a lot, everyone here says that this place is chill and everyone takes care of everyone....

About 530 Jason and so me other guys came and got me to go eat at the chow hall on the Logman side of the FOB... Wow, this chow hall is off the chain, but the only reason why they go over there, is because there has been no military cook (supervising) the locals at our chow hall... Hopefully Mike will put a change to that.... After came back to the Camp and lead Sr Naval Chief met up with us and showed us all around camp, Cozy... The Sr Chief is a laid back awesome dude, everyone here is cool.... This is going to be an awesome 6 months, only thing missing is my family.. It was about 1900 (7:00PM) where I headed back to the room and remodeled a little bit and unpacked 1/2 my stuff... I am going to get the locals to build me some new furniture to make this a little more like home... By the way I have wired internet in my room and I am online 24/7 now... I'm Lovin it!!!! Well bought time to sign off, OH HERE IS MY ADDRESS, DONT FORGET TO SEND ME STUFF!!!!!

Heading out tomorrow.

Today I got up at 630 to someone asking me if I wanted to go eat breakfast, so I went... After that I went to the Motor Pool to get on the computer and Call Stacie.... After that the Power went to off again, so went to the B Hut and chilled... about 930 I headed back over to the Motor Pool and Motor Sgt and me went to go do some trading... We stopped by the DFAC (Dining Facility) and grabbed 4 cases of Gatorade and took them over tot the Navy for some tough boxes for us to roll out on the choppers... When we got back I took all the boxes to the fellas and then we all went to lunch.....

After lunch, we all grabbed the Lifted Toyota and rolled to the BX and I went to the gym... I went to the gym this afternoon, because I will have a busy night packing for my departure tomorrow... After we got back from the gym, I hung around the motor pool trying to scrounge a tough box for the cook, going with me to FOB Mogensen... I have to butter him up, because that is who is going to be feeding me the next 6 months... FInally made a trade with the Supply Sgt, and French (cook) was pleasently surprised.... The rest of the night was packing.... Leaving on a chopper tomorrow at 10:00AM
